Commercial Grade Treadmills Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

As a cardiovascular exercise:
* Treadmills offer the benefit of reduced impact since all treadmills offer some sort of shock absorption. Exercising on a treadmill can reduce the strain to the ankles, knees and lower back that would be involved in running on a normal surface.
As an indoor activity:
* Users who would not run/walk outdoors (e.g. due to unfavorable weather conditions, uneven road surfaces, dangerous neighborhoods or unwanted attention) may use an indoor treadmill. * Users who do not wish to join a gym may use an indoor treadmill at home. * Users can do other things while exercising, such as watching television or reading.
As a machine:
* Enables exact calculation and adjustment of slope and speed. * As many of the factors of the activity are known, the energy expended may be calculated. * Some treadmills have special features such as step count, heart rate monitors, and number of calories expended.
Scientific usages:
* Treadmills are used in the International Space Station by Astronauts as an effective countermeasure against weightlessness.
Gym treadmills are typically used inside health clubs and professional fitness centers more than any other cardio equipment. It has been proven that the best indoor cardio workout equipment, that is natural for every person to use, is the TREADMILL. A treadmill is a simple exercise machine by design as it just moves the ground below the user so anyone can walk, jog or run in a single space. The treadmill simply goes faster, slower, up or down to give different slope inclines.
Most all exercise treadmills are designed the same way. They have an electric motor that moves the running belt and another electric motor that raises and lowers the elevation of the front of the treadmill to simulate going up a hill or walking on flat ground. All treadmills have a control console on top which allows the exerciser to control and operate the functions, or programs of the treadmill.
So what makes one treadmill model and brand more expensive or better than another? Why do treadmill review websites and blogs rate one model higher than another if they all are designed and function the same?
The electric drive motor is one of the first things to look into when rating a treadmill. All electric treadmill motors spin fast in order to move the running belt, below the runner, to simulate that the ground is moving. The difference in motor strengths, however, is what sets some treadmills apart from the others.
The treadmill motor that goes into the home treadmills sold in the Big-Box Retail Sporting Goods stores is a very inexpensive and low TORQUE motor. The motor does spin the running belt but if you press your foot down hard on the running belt while it is moving, the belt will stop moving and you will hear a stressful noise coming from the motor. This becomes a big problem when a treadmill gets used many hours a month or year. This cheap treadmill motor does move the running belt but if the treadmill gets used regularly the cheap motor will wear out and need to be replaced.
On the other hand the commercial grade treadmill motor on treadmills you see inside a professional Gym performs the same function as the Retail Sporting Good Stores home treadmill, but it produces very high torque so when you press your foot down hard on the running belt and try to stop it, it isn’t going to stop like the residential grade treadmill.
This is why we do not sell home model treadmills to the public at any price. If these treadmills are used like they are supposed be, they will most likely fall apart. The fact is that approximately 90% of home treadmills purchased at the Big-Box Sporting Good Stores go UN-USED! This means that only 10% of the buyers of home model treadmills actually use them at least 3 times a week. Thus, if you plan on using your treadmill on a regular basis, it is best to get a better quality model and buy a commercial grade treadmill.
Since most home model treadmills are of such a lesser quality, all professional commercial Health Club and Gyms have to purchase commercial grade professional treadmills. These gyms and health clubs have no other options because their treadmills will get used 6 to 10 hours every day no matter who uses them.
We offer some of the best professional commercial quality treadmills. For example, the Life Fitness treadmill is one of the best brands. The Life Fitness Company invented 2 major innovations for the treadmill. First was the flex deck or cushioned running deck surface. This design has helped many exercisers have a more soft and gentle running and walking workout, especially when compared to jogging on the street outdoors. The Life Fitness treadmills simply put rubber cushions underneath the running deck to add shock absorption at every step.
Then the best innovation that added years to the longevity of the treadmill and reduced maintenance was the self-waxing belt lubrication system. This innovation was one of the best things that came to the professional fitness center. This automatically adds liquid wax lubrication to the underside of the running belt when it is needed. This reduces the friction between the treadmill running belt and running deck and has saved many thousands of dollars in maintenance and repairs for the hard working gym owner and health club.
Another great treadmill is the Precor treadmill and it has all the best features and programs and can stand up to 15 hours a day of fitness center use. These treadmills can cost $6000 brand new but you can get one for much less if you get a remanufactured model in like new condition. When you factor in how many hours these treadmills perform and how many customers they satisfy it is money well invested.
It is our opinion and our advice has always been the same to consumers who are looking to buy a treadmill. If you plan on using your treadmill for at least 3 hours a week, then you are better off buying a refurbished commercial treadmill for $2000-$2,500 than you are buying a new treadmill for $1000.
The WOODWAY treadmill is in a class all by itself. The price tag can be $12,000 or more but it’s worth the investment if your business is an athletic training facility. The WOODWAY treadmill has a running surface that is not a belt at all. The whole platform moves and can reach speeds of 15 miles per hour which is very FAST!
